By now, you must be fully aware of my womance (for those of you unfamiliar with this terminology, it’s a bromance but for girls) with the Motherhood Reconstructed ladies. Well, what better way to solidify our relationship than to create a hashtag planting project together? And, cos we’re not cliquey bitches, we want you to come and join us! Think of it as a celebration of personal growth, spiritual growth, mindset growth, instagram follower growth (joke! *insert awkward side eyes gif*)…
So proud of this one…until I realised squirrels love sunflower seeds
A year and 4 days ago, I took the plunge and started my hey…is that me? instagram account. Since then, I have started an eponymous (sorry, I’ve always wanted to be able to use that word and this opportunity was too great to let it pass by) blog that people other than me and The Photographer read, met some wonderful and inspirational people, both in Instagram world and in real life, reviewed a film, written featured posts for other bloggers/online magazines, featured guests on my blog and I have formed some real relationships, the longevity of which I have very high hopes for. I have grown in so many ways. My confidence is probably higher than it has been in a long, long while and I am excited by what the future holds for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still have work to do, but I’m ready and willing to nurture myself into a Prize Cee in order to win in 2017.
Although she looks like hired help, she is actually my daughter… it was Pirate Day at school
Last year was also the year I decided that I was fed up of killing everything I have ever tried to grow. I made a change and became green-fingered! I was like the black Charlie Dimmock, sans ample bosom and red hair and it felt so good! To be fair, initially, the #BlackFarmerLife was instigated by The Photographer, but the whole family got fully on board with it and, for the first time ever, we spent the warmer months growing fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers in our garden. Kid 1 and Kid 1+1 absolutely loved it and I certainly got a massive buzz out of being able to go out to the garden to ‘harvest’ (going kinda heavy on the irony here) our dinner.
So, starting this coming Sunday 5 March, we are asking you to plant something and watch it grow. It can be anything at all. Make it a family activity and involve your kids, or just be the gardener you always knew you could be, while your kids watch from the other side of the window. You may not even have kids and that’s all good too, cos then, you can truly devote yourself to your craft, with zero fear of annoying kids messing up your shit interruptions or messy welly prints from the back door step to…wherever #lesigh You don’t need an allotment. You don’t even need a garden. A windowsill or a balcony will do just fine. And, as we are super nosey (and we blatantly know that you guys are too), we also ask that you document your journey, tagging us both @heyisthatme and @motherhood_rx and using the hashtag #HeyitsMRbloom. We’ll be monitoring the hashtag and will repost throughout the growing months to inspire and motivate everyone involved.
There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, stopping you from getting involved. The Motherhood Reconstructed gals have been super-duper helpful and compiled a list of planting suggestions for you, along with some quick and very dirty hints and tips on how to grow them, which you can find right here.
And that’s it. It’s not a competition. It’s just for fun. And the ‘gram.
So come on! Let’s do some growing…together.
Cee, Tamu and Lee x
